Dr. Andrea Fumagalli

Andrea Fumagalli is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT-Dallas). He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (1992) and a Laurea Degree in Electrical Engineering (1987), both from the Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy.  From 1992 to 1998 he was an Assistant Professor of the Electronics Engineering Department at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy.  He joined UT-Dallas as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering in August 1997 and was elevated to the rank of Professor in 2005. He served as the Head of the Telecommunications Engineering Program (TE) at UT Dallas from 2007 to 2012. He is an Affiliate Faculty with the Computer Science department at UT Dallas and a Guess Professor at Keio University, Japan.

Dr. Fumagalli’s research interests include aspects of optical, wireless, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud networks, and related protocol design and performance evaluation. He has published about two hundred and fifty technical papers in peer-reviewed refereed journals and conferences and is co-recipient of three best paper awards. He is the founder of the Open Networking Advanced Research (OpNeAR) lab and the Director of the OpenLab, an industry-driven initiative with the mission to contribute to validating interoperability of hardware and software with the open specifications published by the OpenROADM Multi-Source Agreement (MSA).

Dr. Marco Tacca

Marco Tacca received his Laurea Degree from Politecnico di Torino in 1998 and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2002. He is a Professor of Instruction at the University of Texas at Dallas. Marco Tacca’s research interests include aspects of optical networks, high-speed photonic network planning, fault protection/restoration, and performance evaluation

Dr. Miguel Razo

Miguel RAZO obtained his M.S. in Telecommunications Engineering in 2006 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2009 from The University of Texas at Dallas. He worked as Research Assistant from 2007 to 2009, and is currently a Research Associate, at the OpNeAR (Open Networking Advance Research) Laboratory and a Professor of instruction in the Computer Science Department at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.

He has collaborated in designing and implementing software prototypes for the telecom industry.

His research interests include network planning, fault protection, telecommunication software design, protocol design and network modeling, emulation, and simulation.
